Ready - Set - Go! You've sharpened your Japanese language skills & broadened your cultural understanding - now it's time to put them to use overseas!
Japan has had many identities through the centuries and its story is a fascinating one.
It is a country of dichotomies - technology & tradition, loud & quiet, bustling & zen, new & old, fast paced & relaxed... It needs to be experienced to be understood!
Here's a quick sample of what Japan has to offer!
We work closely with tour agencies to develop a jam-packed, experience filled, 11 day adventure through Japan.
We start in Tokyo, the the modern-day center of pop-culture and business and continue on to Kyoto, the traditional and cultural core of Japan.
The country has unsurpassed natural beauty – see it from the window of the high-speed shinkansen bullet train and in the majestic lakes and mountains of Hakone National Park.
The preliminary itinerary for our 2025-2026 action-packed adventure is showcased below and families are invited to begin registering by clicking this link!

In 2019, the City of Regina, Saskatchewan and the City of Fujioka, Gunma signed a formal city-to-city friendship agreement. Fujioka is a city about 1.5-2.5 hours Northwest of Tokyo.
The Regina and Fujioka Friendship Committee (RAFFCOM) is a volunteer sub-committee of the Regina Japanese Culture Club Inc. (RJCC) that works on grassroots initiatives to help connect with and share culture experiences with our friends in Fujioka. (The Kakehashi Project is a group of citizens in Japan who are continually working on projects to connect with people from Saskatchewan.)
This unique connection and relationship is still developing but brings a real human-to-human piece to our program that takes it to a level beyond the touristy stuff. The ability to have guest lectures, meet people before we go, and practice speaking Japanese with native speakers is a welcome addition to our course programming.
2024 marked our first trip back to Japan post-pandemic, but we were able to incorporate two cultural exchanges with high school students from Fujioka and Kyoto. The delegation visited Fujioka, Regina’s friendship city on their 70th anniversary, carrying with them congratulatory messages from Mayor Masters of Regina to Mayor Arai of Fujioka.
Each of the students also carried several children’s books with them as part of an ongoing international book exchange between the cities. The English books are added to bins of travelling libraries that rotate between Fujioka’s elementary schools. The Japanese books that return to Regina are housed in Regina Public Libraries and placed in Saskatchewan’s Information Library Service so they may be accessed from any library in the province.
The students participated in cultural exchange activities with their counterparts in Fujioka and Kyoto Koka High School. Our students lead with open hearts and minds and did an amazing job representing their communities, our province, and country.
Six students from Bert Fox Community High School showcased Indigenous culture through a presentation and demonstration of Powwow dances. The students brought their regalia all the way to Japan to demonstrate fancy, jingle, traditional, and a hat and boots special Powwow dances on behalf of their cultures. This was an incredibly powerful moment to pause and consider the similar ways each government has treated Indigenous people and our collective responsibilities to work towards reconciliation.
